We worked directly with the creative and programming team for Essence to build four custom experiences: Path to Power, Health, Entertainment All Access, and the festival's first-ever Wellness House.
From space layouts & creative ideation to custom scenic fabrication, to audio/visual/lighting installation, we were able to create unique and memorable experiences for the consumers and talent.

Project Spotlight: Subject
In a dystopian New York City, the radioactive dust of nuclear war is everywhere. The trauma of war, the loss of loved ones, and the pressure to flee has created a lucrative new pharmaceutical industry: memory-erasing drugs. The leading contender in clinical trials is Memredux.
For the first time, two test subjects for the new drug are relocated to a shared holding pen in Memredux Laboratories.
We designed + fabricated + lit this breath-taking scenic enclosure for the Welcome To Campfire performance of 'Subject' in New York City.

Incarceration Nations:
A Global Docuseries
Project Spotlight
Tribeca Film Fest 2021 Official Selection.
"Mass incarceration is a global calamity. From England to El Salvador, Argentina to the USA, Brazil and Lebanon to South Africa and Sierra Leone, its harms and horrors look strikingly similar. Incarceration Nations is the first docuseries to tell this border-crossing story. Narrated entirely by those who have lived incarceration around the world, the ten episodes expose an international crisis while also spotlighting solutions, showcasing the work of the justice partners in the Incarceration Nations Network, from one continent to another."
Incarceration Nations: A Global Docuseries is a 10-part web series including hours of interviews, VR animation, archival footage, and original artworks by Matthew Wilson.
Stay tuned for the premiere of Incarceration Nations at screenings globally.

DIGITAL
Project Spotlight
Tristan Kasten-Krause “From Thin Air” ft. Lisel
"The video for the track was created by the directors John Syzonenko and Charles Gangemi using machine learning programs.
Fed over 200 landscape images of Iceland from the photographer Chris Cubellis, the AI software created “landscapes that are augmentations of real locations.” From there, the directors used the visual-performance software TouchDesigner to add a performative aspect to the video.
Towards that end, Gangemi interfaced the textures while Syzonenko interfaced the viewport. The result is a thrilling adventure through shifting geometries and patterns of colored light."
